Thanks for the response! I had been looking at some Tadashi dresses on nordstrom website and while some of the formal dresses look great, others look a little more 'mature' for me. I'm 28. I really like the dressed up less formal dress idea!

Hi! Great question! I'm from NJ originally, myself. Well considering the length of the day I'd say comfort is key!!! The last thing you want to wear is a dress that is uncomfortable or shoes that are going to cause you pain. So, that is first and foremost! This is definitely not the time to break in a new pair of shoes! If you are going to buy new shoes, get them early and try to walk in them as much as you can before the wedding. It might not be a bad idea to bring a second pair of shoes. For your dress, considering a dress that is comfortable, like one that is knit or has some stretch in it, may be the way to go. There are plenty of formal options out there that are comfortable. Depending on your budget, age and style, dresses like Nicole Miller, Tadashi could be ones to consider. Also, you can take a less formal dress that is comfortable and dress it up with accessories to make it dressier.

Invitation says "Formal Attire" Reception follows in the afternoon, afterwords it's party all night. What outfit will wear well for 8 -9+ hours in NJ summer?

Great question! These days, not wearing white is a bit of a dated rule that few support any longer. However, some still believe that guests should not wear white to wedding celebrations. In the end, it's up to you and how you feel. Just keep in mind some may disagree with your choice. If that doesn't bother you I say go for it!

My case have been wearing pantyhose since I was about 13 or 14 years old. Started with my mom's and when my parents found out they were livid as it was hose and other clothing as well. At home I do enjoy crossdressing but when I do out I will wear panties or pantyhose under my pants and just panties in the summer under my short. I have just sort of over the years come to like the feeling of a dress or skirt better then pants at least when relaxing at home. Guess only reason I have not worn outfits outside the home is due to the stigma attached to cross dressers and such. It does bug me how a lady as you said can go out dressed masculine but men get all the weird steers if they go out dress feminine. In a way it's hypocritical of ever women who goes out dressed in pants or slacks. I mean men have worn tights long before women did so is sad that today we just get steers and gawks!!
