Well, here is another trend that I don’t really understand; animal hats…worn on adults. Like yesterday’s post that had me baffled, it seems this trend has been going on for some time, yet I have been oblivious to it. Sure, I’ve seen the vendors on the streets of NY selling these oddities, along with a few people of all ages sporting them, but I didn’t get the level of trendiness they were until I started paying attention. These hats range from hot street sellers to upscale stores and have been worn by everyday Joes to high-profile celebs.
Now before you start calling me a fuddy-duddy for not getting these hats for adults, let me assure you that I like a little whimsy in my style. However, I usually favor a little more sophistication in my looks that have a twist. As I like to say, dressing young and dressing youthful are two different things. Often when someone older dresses too young they wind up looking older rather than younger.
But, what do I know?
Alexander Mendeluk, a founder of SpiritHoods which is a company that makes satin-lined faux-fur hood animal hats was quoted in the NY Times saying “People put on these hoods, let loose, act like a kid again and don’t have to be judged. They want to roll with their friends and have a good time. We’re all animals and we like pretending that we’re animals.”
Do you like pretending that you’re an animal?
Well, style certainly is subjective so I must ask you. Do you think animal hats on adults is Pretty or Pretty Ugly?
