Over 50 and Fabulous: Makeup Musts
This week I will be addressing my most favorite subject, besides shoes, and that is makeup. Just because we are 50 and over does not mean that we can’t be our most attractive ever!!
There are four essential tools that we should use everyday….yes everyday! They are mascara, concealer, blush and lip liner. Mascara is the one most important beauty aid available. I don’t even take out the garbage without it! It has been used for centuries to enhance the eyes which, of course, are the mirrors of our souls. My favorites are Almay Intense Eye Color and Maybelline Great Lash. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look good. However, if you do want to splurge, Borghese puts out Superiore Statement of the Art mascara which lasts for 2 months. If you prefer, use an eyelash curler which heightens the curl and length of your lashes.

The second most important tool in your makeup arsenal is concealer. Years ago, I learned a valuable lesson from a professional makeup artist that concealer should be applied, not only under your eyes, but at the inner corners of your eyes where they meet the bridge of your nose. What a difference his advice made! Almay puts out a Line Smoothing Concealer which is easy on your pocketbook; I, myself, use Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat which comes with a brush making the application very easy.

The third essential for us mature women is blush. Make sure that it is a cream blush and use sparingly!

Last, use a lip liner because, as we age, the lines defining our lips diminish.Use a color that is a shade darker than your lipstick or gloss. Origins Automagically Lip Liner is fabulous! And, please, don’t use a liner that clashes with your lipstick or is too dark a shade.
